Creating from within

Yogi Sean: Wholeness does not mean that we don’t have limitations. We talked about this in the last discussion, and I said that the circle itself has a magnetic quality, and if we think of all the disparate senses of self that we have as iron filings, they actually form around the circle, in order. They find their own place. This is the real beauty of the circle practice.

Interviewer: Oh right, the disparate selves actually align themselves like iron filings around a magnet.

Yogi Sean: Right. It’s really far out because it’s not a point. I don’t have to do psychotherapy. I don’t have to get involved with something that’s really negative to me. What I have to do is to recognize that I’ve lost my center, I’ve lost the sense of Continuity of Wholeness, and I take myself back to the circle.

Interviewer: Wow! That sounds a lot simpler than going through one’s entire personal history in analysis for 25 years.

Yogi Sean: It is a lot simpler, and the difficulty of going through one’s entire personal history in analysis for 25 years, is that you end up fragmenting yourself to such a point that you don’t experience Wholeness anymore.

Interviewer: Right, because I’m even more attached to my history and my reactivity.

Yogi Sean: And what we’re talking about is this wondrous thing of discovering that I am creating from within.

Interviewer: Okay, so I’m creating from within, I’ve always created from within, and when I work with the right teacher who I resonate with, in a practice like that, that creation from within is potentiated, yes?

Yogi Sean: It is enhanced.

Interviewer: Enhanced, okay. Maybe that’s a better word. Talk about that a little bit, the enhancement.

Yogi Sean: Again, the teacher is already doing this. The teacher should already be living this, night and day, 24 hours.

Interviewer: So that’s where we come up with the term of ‘embodiment.’ The teacher has embodied this teaching and is a living proof of it, a kind of a living example.

Yogi Sean: A living manifestation of the Wholeness. And because the teacher is the living manifestation of the Wholeness, we can go to the teacher and say, “This is what I’m doing.” And the teacher can say, “Well you might try doing a little bit of this, you might try to do a little bit of that, or Wow, if you go that direction, you’re going to see what change is all about,” as my teacher said to me. Now what we’re talking about is classic Deity Yoga Practice. Yes, we’ve put a little phrase in there called ‘wrathful deity,’ and then we’ve also said, ’semi-wrathful deity’ and ‘peaceful deity,’ but what’s really happening is that I am opening up to the multiplicity of motivations that are guiding my life.
